HISTORY OF THE SCHOOL

Mapua’s new school of Business and Management – ETYSBM - was established by its Board of Trustees on March 4, 2005 and named after the founder of the pioneer company of the YGC Group – Enrique T. Yuchengco.

This was after the BS Business Administration course was revived by the BOT on December 14, 2004. The first batch of students came in July of SY 2005-06 for the BSBA program as well as for the BS Accounting (BSA) program. This was followed by the first batch of BS Hotel Restaurant Management (BSHRM) students in SY 2006-07 and then by the first batch of BS Entrepreneurship freshmen in SY 2007- 08.

The Accountancy course is considered an honors program. It attracts a good number of interested freshmen because of a strict retention policy (a 2.25 or better grade in all accounting subjects).

In response to the ever changing business landscape, starting School Year 2019-2020 ETYSBM will offer the following additional Programs:

  • BS Accountancy with Master in Business Analytics (BSA-MAN)

  • BS in Business Administration with Master in Business Analytics

  • (BSBA-MAN)BS in Accounting Information System

These additional Programs will run in collaboration with our School of Information Technology (SOIT) which earned title of "Center for Excellence”. BS degree courses will be handled by ETYSBM while MAN courses shall be taken-cared of by SOIT, with some courses to be double counted. Only a year shall be added to the standard BS degree to graduate with a Masteral in Business Analytics.

Starting School Year 2022-2023, the School will be in active collaboration with Arizona State University (ASU), America’s most innovative university, through Cintana Education, to expand the access of Filipino students to high-quality international education in business and health sciences. This new partnership scales up Mapúa's DROID (Digital, Research-Driven, Outcomes-Based, and International Domain) strategy, understanding global trends and expanding its global linkages in both academe and industry to continuously become the cutting edge in higher education in the Philippines.

Mapúa’s E.T. Yuchengco School of Business will also offer ASU-enhanced courses at the brand new, eight-story campus in Makati, the country’s premier business district. This will enable ready access to industry practitioners and internship opportunities at some of the country’s leading companies, which is a major edge for the business students of the University.
